Stari Grad The town of Stari Grad - the ancient PHAROS is one of the oldest inhabited places of the island Hvar that was founded by settlement of Greeks in the year 385 B.C. The town is rich with Greek and Roman monuments, with medieval churches and palaces among which stands out a castle with fish pond that belongs to Croatian poet Petar Hektorovia from 16th century. With its high class hotels, touristic villages and with a large number of beds in private accommodation, today's Stari Grad is one of the most popular touristic resorts on the island of Hvar and Dalmatia as well.
