 Bol
is the oldest little town (settlement) on the coast of Brac. It is
located in seclusion on its Southern side. Numerous strands spread
to the East and to the West of it. It is famous for its beautiful beaches,
whereas the beach of Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) is, according to many,
the most beautiful beach in the Adriatic. The mountain range of Bolska
Kruna (the crown of Bol) spreads over it, along with the Illyrian hill-fort
of Kostilo (600 m) and Vidova Gora (St. Vitus's Hill) (788 m), the
highest peak of the Adriatic Isles.

When it comes to culture, we must
mention first of all its cultural institutions: the Dominican monastery
museum displaying exhibits of prehistorical and antique naval archeology,
Roman and early Croatian building and sculpture; an interesting
collection of coins; a collection of incunabula, church objects
and robes, as well as a picture gallery, holding as the most valuable
the altar painting of "The Mother of God with the Child and Saints".
